Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (OCTF).
This course trains the student to contribute to the safe cargo operation of oil and chemical tankers,
take precautions to prevent hazards and pollution of the environment. The course is a mandatory
course for joining oil and chemical tanker vessels.

Eligibility Criteria :

This course is principally intended for candidates for certification for basic training for oil tanker cargo operations as specified in section A-V/l-l para 1 of the STCW Code as amended. The trainees shall have successfully completed approved Basic Safety Training course as
per STCW Section A – VI/1-2, para 1 of STCW Code as amended

Must have a Valid Indos Number, EFA & FPFF Certificates. Passport copy and photographs 3 colour.

Step 1: Click on the “Apply Now”  button, fill up the Application Form and pay the application fees.

Step 2: On completion of the first step successfully, you will receive a link over e-mail for an Online Examination from our Professional Agency. The login details, as well as other instructions, shall be provided in the e-mail. Please make sure you provide the correct credentials (e-mail and phone number) at the time of filling out the Application Form.

Step 3: If you clear our online test, you will be called for a Personal Interview in our Mumbai office. The details of the venue will be sent in the e-mail.

Step 4: On Selection in the Personal Interview, you shall undergo a Medical Test with the Company-appointed Doctor.

Step 5: A merit list shall be displayed on the Institute Website taking into account results/score of past Academic records, Online Test, Interview as well as Medical Examination “Status Fit”.

Step 6: The candidates who make it to the Merit List shall be asked to pay a booking amount towards Admission & Orientation Fees to book their seat.

Step 7: After receiving the booking amount, the candidates will be issued an Admission/Sponsorship Letters along with DG approval.

Step 8: The candidates shall receive by email the Joining/Standing instructions as well as other documents in the form of Undertakings/Declarations.

Step 9: The admitted candidates have to report on the morning of commencement date of the course at SIMTI.

NOTE:   SIMTI reserves the right to modify the “Selection Procedure” and/or prepone /postpone the schedule of batch(es) at its discretion.

SIMTI provides the required documents i.e Sponsorship letter and Admission letter on completion of the selection process for purpose of securing educational loans.

The offer of admission for Pre-Sea Training and Structured Shipboard Training by SIMTI shall not be considered a guarantee of employment on completion of such training. However, in the event of SIMTI offering employment after passing the Examination, the candidate shall agree to be bound to accept our employment and serve on our vessel for a period of three years. This is a requirement as per the Gazette notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on December 12\\2007 by Govt. of India.

Post the Structured Shipboard training, candidates will have to undergo 4 months’ Preparatory courses for appearing for an examination conducted by DG Shipping and obtain a Certificate of Competency (CoC).

Stage 1:  4 Months Pre-Sea training in the Institute.

Stage 2: 8 months of Structured Shipboard training on ship as Trainee Electro Technical Officer.

Stage 3: 6 months or more sailing as Asst. Electro Technical Officer.

Stage 4: Post successfully clearing the examination and obtaining the Certificate of Competency, candidates are eligible for employment as full-fledged Electro–Technical Officer globally.
