Educational Qualification

  1. Qualified in Online Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET)
  2. Academic Qualification

(a) Pass in 12th Standard or equivalent examination with physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 65%

(b) The candidate must have secured minimum 50% marks in English language in 10th or 12th standard exam.

Note- 1. The candidate must have passed the 10th and 12th standard from a recognized board.

OR

  1. Qualified in Online Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET)
  2. Academic Qualification:

(a) B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year.

(b) The candidate must have secured minimum 50% marks in English language in 10th or 12th Standard exam.

Note – 1. The candidate must have passed the 10th, 12th standard exam and obtained degree from a recognized board or any University.

OR

  1. Qualified in Online Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET)
  2. Academic Qualification

(a) B.E./B. Tech. Degree from IIT. or from a college recognized by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year.

(b) The candidate must have secured minimum 50% marks in English language in 10th or 12th Standard or in the Degree course conducted by recognized Board or any University.

Note – 1. The candidate must have passed the 1Oth, 12th standard exam and obtained degree from a recognized board or any University

Note: Selection of the candidates is subject to clearing the Entrance Test conducted by Indian Maritime University.

Medical & Physical Standards: Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical rules 2000 and all its amendments as applicable to seafarers and have to undergo a Medical Examination with the Company appointed Doctor.

Note: 5% relaxation has been given for PCM for candidates belonging to SC/ST .

 

Candidates to note that it is mandatory for them to clear the IMU CET to qualify for admission at SIMTI. The CET is conducted once a year by IMU, Chennai IMU – CET Subject (200 marks for 200 questions for the following four subjects) at 10+2 basis (CBSE, ISE & STATE BOARDS).

SIMTI Shall not be responsible if any candidate is put to hardship because he /she has not kept himself / herself updated of the latest developments. Only Candidates who have passed CET, and who will fulfil the eligibility criteria relating to age, education qualification, medical fitness etc. as per IMU norms shall be eligible for admission .

Candidates are advised to check their eligibility and fill application only if they meet the criteria.

Candidates who have appeared for improvement examination or compartment / supplementary must have appeared in the same examination board for the improvement / compartment /supplementary exam. if they change boards for the same, they are not eligible.

Please note candidates who get selected with us need to have mandatory documents Adhar Card, Pan Card, Passport.

Step 1: Apply online at simtinstitute.org for the course you want to join and pay the examination fees.

Step 2: You shall receive an e-mail invite to appear for Personal Interview at either Mumbai or the details of the venue will be sent on email. The interview venue is decided in advance and is at the sole discretion of SIMTI. Candidate shall not be given a preference to choose a date.

Personal Interview

  • Candidates will be called for interview Subject to meeting above & SIMTI requirements
  • Institute reserves the right to modify the cut off limits at their discretion
  • Interview venue Mumbai (Shall be intimated adequate in advance prior to the process)

Step 3: Those candidates who are selected in the personal interview shall undergo a medical test with the company appointed doctor.

Step 4: A merit list shall be put out on the institute website taking into account past academic scores, interview scores as well as medical examination results.

Step 5: The candidates who make it to the merit list shall be asked to pay a booking amount to reserve their seat. They will also be asked to submit /send necessary documents to the Admission Team.

Step 6: After receiving the booking amount, the candidates will be issued with a sponsorship letter on the basis of which they can avail loans with any nationalized bank.

Step 7: The candidates shall receive a joining instruction as well as other documents that they need to submit before they join. candidates are encouraged to read the instructions carefully.

Step 8: The candidates need to report in the morning of the course commencement date at SIMTI, Khopoli. The reporting date and time shall be intimated to the candidates.

 

NOTE:   SIMTI reserves the right to modify the “Selection Procedure” and/or prepone /postpone the schedule of batch(es) at its discretion.

SIMTI provides the required documents i.e Sponsorship letter and Admission letter on completion of the selection process for purpose of securing educational loans.

The offer of admission for Pre- Sea Training and Shipboard Training by SIMTI shall not be considered as guarantee of employment on completion of such training. However, in the event of SIMTI offering employment after passing the Examination, the candidate shall agree to be bound to accept our employment and serve on our vessel for period of three years. This is a requirement as per the Gazette notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on December 12\\2007 by Govt. of India.

Post on board training, candidates will have to undergo 4 months’ Preparatory courses for appearing at certificate of competency exam.

The total training period is 30 months -12 months on shore and 18 months on board a ship as Deck Cadet (TNOC)

After completion of total training as mentioned above i.e. 30 months it is mandatory to clear the 2nd mate examination leading to Certificate of Competency.

Stipend during the training shall be determined by the market conditions as well as the organization that the trainees join for their training period.
