8 months Pre Sea Training on campus (Fully residential) followed by 10 months of Structured Shipboard Training as Trainee Marine Engineer (TME) / Junior Engineer(JE).

Minimum Qualification:

(a) BE / B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering or BE/B Tech in marine engineering (non DGS approved) with minimum marks of 50% in final year

(b) The candidate must have secured minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.

Note

1. The BE / B. Tech degree or any other higher degree such as 5 year integrated M.E. / M. Tech degree must have been obtained from AICTE approved institute or the llT’s or from University Engineering Colleges (Colleges directly run by University).

2. These Candidates are exempted from appearing in all subjects of part ‘A’ of both MEO Class – lV and MEO Class – ll grade of examinations.

3.  A relaxation of 5% marks in English shall be granted to the candidates who are native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and belong to Scheduled Tribes and who and both of whose parents were born in those islands and belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.

OR

(a) A full time BE/B Tech in all Mechanical Engineering streams e.g Mechanical and Automation, Mechanical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobile etc However’ the word ‘, Mechanical” should be first indicating that mechanical engineering is the core and the second subject is the elective.

b) The candidate must have secured minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th standard or in Degree Exam.

(a) Candidates who have degree in all Naval Architecture streams e.g. Naval architecture and Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ship building, etc. However, the word “Naval Architecture” should be first indicating that Naval architecture is the core and the second subject is the elective.

(b) The candidates must have secured minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.

Medical & Physical Standards: Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical rules 2000 and all its amendments as applicable to seafarers and have to undergo a Medical Examination with the Company appointed Doctor.

Step 1: Click on the “Apply Now” button, fill up the Application Form and pay the application fees.

Step 2: On completion of the first step successfully, you will receive a link over e-mail for an Online Examination from our Professional Agency. The login details, as well as other instructions, shall be provided in the e-mail. Please make sure you provide the correct credentials (e-mail and phone number) at the time of filling the Application Form.

Step 3: If you clear our online test, you will be called for a Personal Interview in our Mumbai office. The details of the venue will be sent in the e-mail.

Step 4: On Selection in the Personal Interview, you shall undergo a Medical Test with the Company-appointed Doctor.

Step 5: A merit list shall be displayed on the Institute Website taking into account results/score of past Academic records, Online Test, Interview as well as Medical Examination “Status Fit”.

Step 6: The candidates who make it to the Merit List shall be asked to pay a booking amount towards Admission & Orientation Fees to book their seats.

Step 7: After receiving the booking amount, the candidates will be issued an Admission/Sponsorship Letters along with DG approval.

Step 8: The candidates shall receive by email the Joining/Standing instructions as well as other documents in the form of Undertakings/Declarations.

Step 9: The admitted candidates have to report on the morning of commencement date of the course at SIMTI.

NOTE:   SIMTI reserves the right to modify the “Selection Procedure” and/or prepone /postpone the schedule of batch(es) at its discretion.

SIMTI provides the required documents i.e Sponsorship letter and Admission letter on completion of the selection process for purpose of securing educational loans.

Stipend & Salary

Stipend during the training period shall be determined by the market conditions as well as the organization that the trainees join for their Structured Shipboard training period of Minimum 10 months.

Employment

The Offer of admission for Pre-Sea Training and Shipboard Training by SISL shall not be considered as guarantee of employment on completion of such training. However, in the event of SISL offering employment after passing the MEO Class-IV Examination, the candidate shall agree to be bound to accept our employment and serve on our vessels for a period of minimum three years. This is a requirement as per the Gazette Notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on December 12, 2007 by Govt. of India.

The total training period is 18 months – 8 months on-shore as a Graduate Marine Engineer and 10 months on board the ship (4 months as Trainee Marine Engineer and 6 months as a Junior Engineer.

After completion of training, it is mandatory to clear the examination   conducted by MMD and obtain requisite Certificate of Competency (CoC).
