Educational Qualification

  1. Qualified in Online Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET)
  2. Indian National
  3. Not more than 25 years of age on date of commencement of course, 5 years relaxation for Scheduled cast/Scheduled Tribe, 3 Years relaxation for Non-creamy layer of OBC and 2 Years relaxation for Female Candidates
  4. Academic Qualification
  • HSC or equivalent Certificate
  • Mark Sheet showing minimum 60% marks in PCM subjects in HSC (10+2). (Original with 2 photocopies)
  • Original School/College Leaving Certificate with 2 photocopies
  • Minimum 50% Marks in English language in SSC or HSC
  • Age not more than 25 yrs for HSC students on the date of commencement of course (relaxations for age as mentioned above)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate from a Doctor approved by Director General, Shipping (original with 1 photocopy)
  • Eye Sight Test Certificate -6×6 both eyes and no colour blindness from any DG approved doctor (original with 1 photocopy)
  1. Qualifying the IMU CET is mandatory for B.Sc. Nautical Science Course as per DGS training circular No.12 of 2020 and IMU circular No.2022 dated 07/03/2022
  2. Those students clear the IMU CET are eligible for the B.Sc. Nautical Science course. IMU online form is available onwww.imu.edu.in

Candidates who have appeared for improvement examination or compartment / supplementary must have appeared in the same examination board for the improvement / compartment /supplementary exam. if they change boards for the same, they are not eligible.

Please note candidates who get selected with us need to have mandatory documents Adhar Card, Pan Card, Passport.

Step 1: Apply online at simtinstitute.org for the course you want to join

Step 2: You shall receive an e-mail invite to appear for Personal Interview at either Mumbai or the details of the venue will be sent on email. The interview venue is decided in advance and is at the sole discretion of SIMTI. Candidate shall not be given a preference to choose a date.

Personal Interview

  • Candidates will be called for interview Subject to meeting above & SIMTI requirements
  • Institute reserves the right to modify the cut off limits at their discretion
  • Interview venue Mumbai (Shall be intimated adequate in advance prior to the process)

Step 3: Those candidates who are selected in the personal interview shall undergo a medical test with the company appointed doctor.

Step 4: A merit list shall be put out on the institute website taking into account past academic scores, interview scores as well as medical examination results.

Step 5: The candidates who make it to the merit list shall be asked to pay a booking amount to reserve their seat. They will also be asked to submit /send necessary documents to the Admission Team.

Step 6: After receiving the booking amount, the candidates will be issued with a sponsorship letter on the basis of which they can avail loans with any nationalized bank.

Step 7: The candidates shall receive a joining instruction as well as other documents that they need to submit before they join. candidates are encouraged to read the instructions carefully.

Step 8: The candidates need to report in the morning of the course commencement date at SIMTI, Khopoli. The reporting date and time shall be intimated to the candidates.

 

NOTE:   SIMTI reserves the right to modify the “Selection Procedure” and/or prepone /postpone the schedule of batch(es) at its discretion.

SIMTI provides the required documents i.e Sponsorship letter and Admission letter on completion of the selection process for purpose of securing educational loans.

After completion of total training of 36 months:

  1. One year sea service as a Cadet
  2. Complete advanced modular courses
  3. Second Mate F.G. Exam
  4. 18 months service as a watch keeping officer
  5. 6 months preparatory course & advanced modular courses
  6. First Mate(F.G.) Exam
  7. 18 months service as 2nd or 3rd officer OR 12 months service as a Chief Officer
  8. 1 month Preparatory Course and Modular courses
  9. Master (F.G.)
