Minimum Qualification:

(a) Passed a four year BE / B Tech Degree including lateral entry, with 60%marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and instrumentation or equivalent.

(b) The. candidates must have secured minimum 50% marks in English in 10th or ’12th standard exams. lf a candidate could not secure 50% marks in English in 10th or .12th standard exams, shall still be eligible provided the candidate secures 60 % in the degree exam and the medium of learning in degree was English.

Note

1. The candidate must have passed the 10th and 12th standard from a recognized board.

2. The degree courses must be recognized by any state or central Government or the AICTE.

OR

(a) The Candidates who were admitted in Diploma course on the basis of Matriculation only and went to complete their B.E./ B. Tech degree course as a lateral entry in the 2nd year of the degree on the basis of Diploma, and has secured with 60% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and instrumentation or equivalent.

(b) The candidates must have secured minimum 50% marks in English in 10th standard exams. lf a candidate could not secure 50% marks in English in 10th standard exam shall still be eligible provided the candidate secures 60% in Diploma or 60 % in the degree exam and the medium of learning in diploma or degree was English.

Medical & Physical Standards: Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical rules 2000 and all its amendments as applicable to seafarers and have to undergo a Medical Examination with the Company appointed Doctor.

Step 1: Click on the “Apply Now” button, fill up the Application Form and pay the application fees.

Step 2: On completion of the first step successfully, 2 days before the exam you will receive a link over E-mail for an Online Examination which will be held on ( Click here for exam schedule ). The login details, as well as other instructions, shall be provided in the E-mail. Please make sure you provide the correct credentials (E-mail and phone number) at the time of filling out the Application Form.

Step 3: A webinar will be conducted for PI/PLI assessment (only for those candidates who are qualified in the online exam).

Step 4: Personal Interview at Mumbai office for qualifying candidates. The details of the venue will be sent in the e-mail. (Approximately after 10 days)

Step 5: On Selection in the Personal Interview, you shall undergo a Medical Test with the Company-appointed Doctor.

Step 6: A merit list shall be displayed on the Institute Website.

Step 7: The candidates who make it to the Merit List will be sent a provisional admission confirmation and shall be asked to pay a booking amount.

Step 8: After receiving the booking amount, the joining formalities will be provided to the candidates.

Step 9: The admitted candidates have to report on the morning of commencement date of the course at SIMTI.

NOTE:   SIMTI reserves the right to modify the “Selection Procedure” and/or prepone /postpone the schedule of batch(es) at its discretion.

SIMTI provides the required documents i.e Sponsorship letter and Admission letter on completion of the selection process for purpose of securing educational loans.

The offer of admission for Pre-Sea Training and Structured Shipboard Training by SIMTI shall not be considered a guarantee of employment on completion of such training. However, in the event of SIMTI offering employment after passing the Examination, the candidate shall agree to be bound to accept our employment and serve on our vessel for a period of three years. This is a requirement as per the Gazette notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on December 12\\2007 by Govt. of India.

Post the Structured Shipboard training, candidates will have to undergo 4 months’ Preparatory courses for appearing for an examination conducted by DG Shipping and obtain a Certificate of Competency (CoC).

Stage 1:  4 Months Pre-Sea training in the Institute.

Stage 2: 8 months of Structured Shipboard training on ship as Trainee Electro Technical Officer.

Stage 3: 6 months or more sailing as Asst. Electro Technical Officer.

Stage 4: Post successfully clearing the examination and obtaining the Certificate of Competency, candidates are eligible for employment as full-fledged Electro–Technical Officer globally.
