
Capt. Rustomkhan Sulemankhan Tadvi

Capt. Rustomkhan Sulemankhan Tadvi, a distinguished Master Mariner, began his maritime career on October 15, 1981, aboard the TS Rajendra as part of the 1981-1982 batch. After excelling in his TS Rajendra Final Passing Out Exam with First Class honors, he joined the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) as a deck cadet. He rose to the rank of Chief Officer, serving on diverse vessels including general cargo ships, oil tankers, container ships, and gas carriers until September 1996.
Following his tenure at SCI, Capt. Tadvi sailed with prominent companies such as North South Ship Management (Singapore), V. Ships (Monaco), and Ind Aust Ship Management (Mumbai), where he took command. His extensive career, spanning until 2023, included service on oil tankers, gas carriers, and chemical carriers of various types and sizes with companies like Navig8 (Singapore), V. Ships (Monaco), and SISL (Mumbai). Alongside his sailing career, he pursued his passion for teaching, mentoring the next generation of seafarers.
In August 2023, Capt. Tadvi transitioned to a full-time role at Seven Islands Maritime Training Institute as a Nautical Faculty member. He teaches Diploma in Nautical Sciences cadets subjects such as Navigation, Chart Work, Marine Meteorology, Rules of the Road, and Bridge Conventional and Electronic Navigation Equipment. On September 11, 2025, he assumed the position of Vice Principal of the institute.
